River Ratings
The following descriptions are useful
as general guidelines for the riveršs difficulty. If you have
questions concerning which river is right for you, please contact
our office.
Class I:
Slow moving water. No rapids and no maneuvering required. Recommended
for those wanting a totally relaxing float.
Class II:
Slow flowing water. Some waves and minor rapids. Very little maneuvering
required. Recommended for small children, senior citizens and
beginners.
Class III:
Swift current with minor obstacles. Substantial rapids, maneuvering
required. Recommended for beginners and intermediate boaters.
Class IV:
Swift current with numerous obstacles and rapids. Constant maneuvering
required. Recommended for experienced boaters.
Class V:
Very strong current with many obstacles, steep drops and long
rapids. Scouting is mandatory. Expert maneuvering required. Recommended
for experienced, healthy boaters.
Class VI:
Considered to be unrunable. Not recommended.
How
Safe Is It?
River rafting in general is considered one of the safest outdoor
participant sports available to the public. All Redwoods and Rivers
guides are certified in first aid, CPR and trained in swiftwater
rescue!
Equipment
Redwoods and Rivers uses only the finest whitewater equipment
available. Rafts are made of durable polyurethane and consist
of multiple air chambers, making them virtually unsinkable. Our
life jackets are specially designed for whitewater use and are
approved by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Food
Redwoods and Rivers takes pride in providing high-quality, rib-sticking
wholesome meals. We will gladly accommodate any special dietary
needs you may have (such as Vegetarian or vegan).Please notify
us in advance.
Lodging
For those who prefer the comforts of home, Redwoods and Rivers
can arrange accommodations with the area's finest Bed and Breakfasts
or River Lodges.
